The movie begins in Central Park in New York. The people in the park act strangely for no obvious reason, and suddenly they kill themselves. Panic strikes America as it is believed to be a terrorist attack.
People begin rushing out of the Northeast to get to what they believe is safe.
Philadelphia high school teacher Elliot Moore (Mark Wahlberg) and his wife Alma (Zooey Deschanel) join friend Julian (John Leguizamo) and his daughter on a train out of town. As they are leaving, a park in Philadelphia suffers from a similar incident that happened in New York. Now Elliot must lead his loved ones and others trying to escape the chaos outside of the danger zone.
Shyamalan did a great job with this movie.
It is my opinion that this is a cry for us to act on global warming and make a difference. However, I don't feel that this is his strongest movie. It lacked that twist factor the Shyamalan is known to add in his movies. It is an enjoyable movie, but it isn't something that will knock your socks off.
