It took four games, but it finally happened, in a big way. Kansas Wesleyan's offense exploded for 447 yards as the Coyotes blasted Ottawa 42-19 Saturday night at Steve Grogan Stadium in Ottawa.
True freshman Justin Schropp also had a break out game, in just his fourth collegiate start, accounting for 231 of Wesleyan's 447 yards himself, and having a part in five of the six Wesleyan touchdowns - three rushing and two passing.

This issue's Female athlete of the week is Naomi Hobayan of the volleyball team. Naomi was named KCAC player of the week last week and her passing and hitting led the Lady Coyotes to two victories over Oklahoma Wesleyan University and Bethany College.

The male spotlight athlete is Wayne Johnson of the soccer team. Wayne is a senior goal keeper and his play between the posts has helped the Coyotes to six shutout victories and a top 25 ranking for the first time in the programs history.

For most of the student athletes on the KWU campus, the act of juggling school and sport has become more of an art form.
This semester no student athlete has perfected that art better than Anthony Padilla. Besides being the starting right back for the nation's twenty-fifth ranked men's soccer team, Padilla is also the kicker for the nation's twelfth ranked football team.

Sporting a 7-2 record, and a number one ranking in the latest NAIA Region IV poll, the Kansas Wesleyan Men's Soccer team cracked the NAIA's Top 25 poll for the first time in the history of the program.
The closest the Coyotes got to the Top 25 since the program was started in 1996, was in the 1999 season, when they were the top team receiving votes, just outside the top 25.
