International touring artist Teresa Walters played the piano accompaniment to Gershwin's famous "Rhapsody in Blue" at the Salina Symphony two Sundays ago. Her performance credentials include New York's Carnegie Hall, Wigmore Hall in London, The Salle Cortot in Paris, and the Great Hall of Moscow. She has toured in recent years in Austria, Hungary, Switzerland, Australia, Japan and Israel.

Walters visited the Kansas Wesleyan campus on the Friday before the concert on October 8. She played selections from the piece and expounded on various musical elements of the composition to the audience which consisted of the members of the Philharmonic Choir and many other interested individuals from around the campus, including, among other groups, athletes and administrators. After her presentation, Walters gave pointers to KWU piano students Melissa Burrows and Chelsea Nichols, as well as an advanced area high school student.

The Symphony Concert, themed as "American Rhapsody," was well-received by the audience, thanks in part to the addition of theatrics and selections performed by Wesleyan Chorale, the Music Department's select choir. M.M. Ken Hakoda directs Wesleyan Chorale and conducts the Salina Symphony.
