Have a ghoulishly good time and enjoy some treats and prizes during Fall Fest 2006. The annual event, sponsored by Kansas Wesleyan University and Salina Parks and Recreation is scheduled for October 28 on the Kansas Wesleyan campus.
Fall Fest will begin with a Costume Contest at 5 p.m. in Sams Chapel. Entry in the contest is free and prizes will be awarded to the top places in each category. The categories include Scariest, Funniest, Most Creative and Cutest.
The Spooktacular Carnival is scheduled for 5:30-8 p.m. in the student center in Pioneer Hall. (Because of construction of Kansas Wesleyan's new Student Activities Center, the space in Muir Gymnasium will not be available for Fall Fest.) The Spooktacular will include prizes, candy and carnival games for children.
Looking for something spookier? Dare to enter the Haunted House, which will be open from 7-11 p.m. in Peters Science Hall. Entry to the Haunted House will be through the northwest doors of the building. Admission is $4 per person. The Haunted House is sponsored by the Kansas Wesleyan Student Activities Board.
Fall Fest is an annual collaboration of Kansas Wesleyan University and the Salina Parks and Recreation to provide recreation and a safe alternative for parents concerned about taking their children trick-or-treating. Thousands of children of all ages participate in the Salina Fall Fest each year.
Kansas Wesleyan's sponsorship of what was known as Howl-O-Rama came about as a way for the university to say "thank you" to the citizens of Salina for their support of the institution. Salina Parks and Recreation's Spooktacular was an annual event for more than 20 years. More than 10 years ago, Kansas Wesleyan University and Salina Parks and Recreation decided to merge the two events into the super celebration now known as Salina Fall Fest.
