Is there really an after life that roams the world or do we want to believe in something so badly that our imagination runs wild and makes us see things.

Here in our own little comfortable town of Salina there are said to be many haunting ghosts. Even though many people do not fully believe in ghosts, the evidence is compelling enough to make you ponder if supernatural activity could be true.

At Central High School, there is believed to be a young girl named Joyce that haunts the theatre. According to Juicee News Daily, the background story is that Joyce was killed in a car accident on her way to a play where she was the lead role. She makes her appearance in the auditorium by causing unplanned incidences during performances.

Elizabeth Schrader, a former student at Central, shares with me her own encounter with the ghost. She described to me a night where the drama club was at the school late one night rehearsing for a play and she walked into the bathroom where she saw a girl starring in the mirror with her head down, barefoot, and dressed raggedy. This was not a girl she had ever seen before and was not a member of the play.

Elizabeth also experienced another encounter where she and a friend walked into the auditorium that was pitch black except for one light shinning directly onto a seat in the audience, Elizabeth and her friend walked over to the chair where the letter "J" from the isle was illuminated. This could have only been the ghost of Joyce expressing her presence.

Another former student, Tiffany Watson, had a different experience with the ghost of Central. On opening night of a play called Footloose, the curtain completely collapsed from the ceiling and landed in the pit of the audience. Tiffany was backstage with the stage crew and was shocked by the accident because none of the crew had touched any of the controls for the curtain and had left the curtain untouched.

There are said to be other haunted places around Salina. The Hottz house for example is another local haunted hot spot on the outskirts of Salina. Once owned by a man that thought the world was going to end, tunnels were built so he could hide underground. These tunnels were also believed to help move slaves. It is said you can still hear footsteps running through the tunnels and the house is now abandoned except for satanic groups that worship the devil at that house.

Whether we actually believe these stories, they do make you shiver at the thought of coming face to face with a ghost. Some say that ghost only show themselves to people that believe in them, but could it be that the people who don't believe in ghost have actually encountered a ghost and just don't realize it. Or if perhaps a ghost was to show himself to a nonbeliever, would that person then be convinced or find something to blame the supernatural event on?

So you say, what is there to do here in Salina? Grab a friend and check out the local haunted hot spots. It is sure to be a thrill and scare. This is not a boring homely town, but rather a ghost town filled with creepy events happening all around us. If you are still skeptical about the existents of ghosts, maybe when you bump into your own supernatural activity you too will have a story to tell.
