Debate and forensics teams bring home awards

On October 7th, 8th, and 9th the KWU Debate and Forensics Squad went to Missouri Central University (formerly Central Missouri State University) for the Missouri Mule debate and Forensics Tournament. It was the first tournament for the full squad. They sent 3 to K-State September 30th where Megan Hagaman took third in Extemporaneous Speaking. The results for the Missouri Mule are:

Friday Debate - The team of Megan Hagaman and Jeriah Forbes tied for fourth in the Open Division with the team of Rod Wren and Eric Arganbright. The team of Jon Mikolajcik and Tabitha Eissler placed third in the Novice Division. Megan Hagaman was the 2nd best Speaker in the tournament and Rodney Wren was the 4th best Speaker.

Saturday Individual Events - Amanda Gawith placed 1st in Dramatic Interpretation and 6th in Poetry. Rodney Wren placed 3rd in Extemporaneous Speaking. Megan Hagaman placed 5th in Extemporaneous Speaking and 5th in Communication Analysis. Jeriah Forbes placed 6th in Informative Speaking. In the Individual Sweepstakes Amanda Gawith placed 4th and Rodney Wren placed 5th. In the Team Sweepstakes, Kansas Wesleyan University placed 3rd out of 18 colleges and universities.

Sunday Individual Events Swing - KWU only competed 4 individuals. Megan Hagaman placed 2nd in Extemporaneous Speaking and 4th in Communication Analysis. Amanda Gawith placed 2nd in Dramatic Interpretation.

Schools competing were: Truman University, Southwest Baptist University, Ottawa College, Baker University Barton CCC, McKendree College, Washburn University, Webster University, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Northwest Missouri State, Hutchinson CCC, Kansas State University, Doane College, Longview CCC, Northeastern State University, University of Central Missouri, Neosho CCC, Kansas Wesleyan University.
