It took overtime for the men and a penalty kick shootout for the women for Kansas Wesleyan to capture both KCAC Post-Season Tournament Championships for the second straight season on Saturday night in McPherson.
Same story, reversed roles. Last season it was the men who captured the KCAC Regular Season Championship, and went on to win the KCAC Post-Season Tournament, while the women finished the regular season with just one loss in conference play and went on to win the Tournament.

This issue's male spotlight athlete is Mike Padilla of men's soccer. Padilla's passing and ball control was key for the Coyotes in their 4-0 win over Tabor in the KCAC post season tournament. The 4-0 win landed the Coyotes in the championship game where they beat Friends in overtime to win the KCAC tournament.
Kolby Rhoades

This issue's Female spotlight athlete is Kolby Rhoades of women's volleyball. Rhoades is one of the most feared hitters in the KCAC. Rhoades had 19 kills in the Lady Coyotes win over first place Tabor. That win marked the Lady Coyotes ninth in a row and bumped them forward into a tie for second place in the KCAC.

Bethel uses a fake field goal in the fourth quarter to score the only touchdown of the game as the no.20 ranked Threshers upset the no.10 ranked Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes 10-3 on Saturday afternoon at Thresher Stadium in North Newton. Bethel struck first in the first half with 12:12 left in the first quarter as Michael Montez connected on a 34 yard field goal to put Bethel ahead 3-0.

Kansas Wesleyan's Women's Cross Country Team finished in a tie with Southwestern in the team standings to earn a share of the KCAC Championship, while the men finished in sixth overall, on Saturday at Camp WaJaTo near Lyons. Jolene Mick continued to dominate the conference, earning the 2006 individual conference champion title, despite getting lost on the course and running a little extra then the rest of the runners.

Every year the KWU coaches recruit many excellent athletes. They all compete for a high positioned spot on the team. Anthony Smith not only made his position on the team but his excellence earned him the award of Newcomer of the Year. Smith grew up in Phoenix with his mom until he was in eighth grade, and then moved to Peoria, Arizona.
