Both freshmen have found transitioning into college quite easy. Both of course were nervous starting a new college. What wouldn't be nerve racking though? They are both attending a new school where they will have to get homework done, get to class on time and somehow get a social life with all new friends.
"When I first arrived on campus, I was nervous because I didn't know anybody here, and I'd only been on the campus twice. Now I just chill," said Thomas.
Before coming to college, they were both somewhat of a wreck, they said. There were times when they were ready to leave, but sometimes they were not ready to leave. Thomas was excited to leave the school and not have to act goody-good all the time, but was also sad during graduation. Smith however, did not feel prepared for college at all.
"I didn't feel ready in the slightest. I didn't feel prepared for what I had heard about college," Smith said.
Looking back on it now, they feel as if they worried too much. College for them has been quite simple, give or take a class or two such as Calculus. They found that college wasn't as hard as everybody had said it was.
"I thought that I'd be lost and call my parents all the time, but I don't," said Thomas.
They also found it fairly easy to act themselves around other people. It was starting a new slate for both of them. They did not feel pressured to act the way other people wanted them to act or how other people thought they should act.
"You are more free to be diverse instead of what your friends want you to be," said Smith.
