Christmas break movies get mixed reviews

Aaron and Priscilla Mizell

Issue date: 2/2/07 Section: Entertainment
If you haven't stopped by Dickenson Theatre's Cinema 10 in the mall lately, it is definitely worth a peek. They've added two new theatres and remodeled everything from the bathrooms to the carpets to the show time display. The place looks absolutely amazing, so be sure to treat yourself to a movie and popcorn and enjoy the upgrade. ?
Eragon
Aaron: All that I have to say is that God gave me eight extra thumbs so that I could put ten thumbs down for this movie. Horrible!!! Don't even waste the time to see the cute little dragon. The story went so fast and made no sense. For example, elves are the most magical creatures in the world, but then when a guy is dying and she's awake in the movie (which was not the case in the book) she doesn't heal him of a very minor injury. It would be an insult to movies everywhere to call this a real movie. They failed to put the most basic parts of the movie together. There was no plot, no suspension, nothing-this movie is a complete failure.
Priscilla: The odd aspect about this movie is that it's aimed towards Paolini fans (since they don't take the time to explain important parts of the story) yet almost every fan I've spoken with dislikes this film. If Aaron hadn't been with me, identifying characters and explaining key ideas, I would have been utterly lost. I enjoyed Rachel Weiss as the voice of Saphira and the animation was breath-taking (oh, I want a dragon…) but this wasn't the wonderful movie I had hoped for.

Charlotte's Web
Priscilla: This was a sweet and inspiring film. I'm a huge fan of children's literature in the first place but even if I wasn't I would have loved this film. I absolutely adored this movie-the cast was perfect (Julia Roberts did an amazing job as Charlotte) and the animation was breath-taking. I cried, laughed, and enjoyed every second. I wholeheartedly recommend this film.
Aaron: This was a beautiful movie-very well done!!! The only thing that made it sad was that it showed how horrible Dakota Fanning is at improv. She just can't do it. Besides that this was a perfect movie and reminded me of when I was a child. I loved the book and loved the animated movie that came out in 1973.
