He came to Kansas Wesleyan along with the new head basketball coach Tommy DeSalme to be his assistant. They both coached at Sterling College before coming here. Jackson was the tennis coach at Sterling as well, so when the spot opened at KWU he jumped on it.
The tennis team had a short fall season filled with practices and exhibition matches. They competed at Hutchison Community College, Bethel, and hosted a meet here in Salina. Although short on participants, the teams did fairly well. They won the Bethel meet and lost a very close meet at Hutchison. Brad Vanover, sophomore and Andy Brockman, junior, were the top two men competitors. Brad was the number one single's player, and Andy was the number two. They teamed up together to be the doubles team as well, and were quite the force to be reckoned with.
On the girl's side, Brittney Parke, sophomore, and Justine Gant, freshman, are the main returners. Brittney was the number one singles player with Justine being the number three. They, like Vanover and Brockman, combined to be the main doubles team.
The team has been conditioning during the off-season in hopes of being a very competitive team in the KCAC this spring. The matches will start in March, but as of right now the schedule is still undecided. The returnees, along with a few new additions to the team, expect it to be a fun and exciting season with their new and inspired coach.
