Children of Men
Aaron: Great movie with so many twists back and forth that it gets aggravating, but despite this, it doesn't ruin it. The fact that so many wonderful characters lose their lives keeps you guessing and keeps you watching for what the creators dare to do next. They never clearly tell you why women can't have babies, but there are ideas behind it placed strategically here and there throughout the movie. Maybe, if I watched it a second time all of that would add up to something, but, alas-it did not, after the first viewing.
Priscilla: This isn't a particularly enjoyable movie to watch but is certainly important to see. How the filmmakers show hope to be possible in even the most desperate situation is remarkable. This film really makes you ponder how the world could end up if war continues to dominate our mindset.
Smokin' Aces
Priscilla: Ryan Reynolds was absolutely amazing in this film! I was astounded at how well he handled this role-he was perhaps more successful in this dramatic role than in any of his previous comic endeavors. I wasn't terribly fond of some of the unnecessary gore (The three crazy assassins gave me the creeps) and the random parts could have been left out, but this was definitely an exciting movie to watch.
Aaron: I will sum up the entire movie for you really quickly: randomness, guns going off, crazy people killing people just because, an uncanny amount of bad words, some more pointless killing, more
bad words, things falling apart as
they're ripped to shreds by bullets,
more randomness, more guns blazing, 9/10 of the cast dying and most likely going to Hades, major plot twist, and an amazing ending. The good part is that at the end, the rest was pretty much pointless, random stupidity. Not my favorite, but Ryan makes it all OK in the end (LOL). Really, he is amazing!
Catch and Release
Aaron: This was wonderful! Greatest statement is that no one is faultless. So often movies and commercials show guys as stupid and evil, full of faults, with very little redeemability (which is not even a word according to spellcheck) while on the other side of the coin lies the idea that girls are always right and perfect in everything they do, full of grace and without flaw. This movie showed that coined stereotype being melted down by Hephaestus and drained away into the ocean by Poseidon. All people are flawed, but have learned to use those flaws to become better people. If all guys were evil like they are in most movies, then why are girls in those movies friends with them? Life is not black and white, male and female, good and evil, etc… that is never the case. This movie takes the risk to change the normal stereotypes and gives us a taste of reality.
Priscilla: A charming movie-witty, funny, upbeat, and inspiring. Jennifer Garner was wonderful in her role and the screenplay was perfect. I wholeheartedly agree with Aaron-since nobody is portrayed as perfect or entirely with fault, this is a truly beautiful movie. I definitely
