Each spring, the 70-member choir, made up of students from a variety of majors, performs at churches and schools throughout the Midwest. Every few years, the KWU Philharmonic Choir performs outside the Midwest, most recently in China in 2006. The KWU Philharmonic Choir is under the direction of Ken Hakoda, choral music director.
The Kansas Wesleyan University Department of Music offers majors in Music Performance and Music Education, as well as a minor in Music.
The Music Department's foundation is built upon 12 faculty members, who are well qualified in their specific content area to broaden each student's knowledge and understanding of music. Each faculty member, in addition to stressing quality performances, emphasizes the day-to-day basic music education techniques that lend themselves to preparing students to become well prepared music educators.
