Wren stirred up some controversy when he posted flyers indicating that the current Student Government Association might be a "joke" and featured Anna Nicole Smith as the cover girl. These flyers were posted throughout campus and encouraged students to show up to the next Student Government Association meeting, which was held on March 26, 2007 in Pioneer Hall 325. The flyers are no longer posted on campus, but the message they conveyed is still being talked about. Wren's intention of these posters was to get students interested in attending future Student Government Association meetings. He said, "The idea of calling SGA a joke is like any sort of revolution if you will, there has to be a lot of noise made and interest generated."
Outside of controversial campaign posters, Wren has a lot to say about why he thinks that he is the right person to be the next Student Government Association president. "There is a problem…with the direction of the Student Government Association this year." Wren is unhappy with the leadership and feels that his experience with government office is "vastly greater" to those currently holding office in SGA.
Wren feels like he has been personally attacked but that he has not yet retaliated, however, he does offer strong words to those who have tried to slander him, stating that "there is a serious flaw in the way that the Student Government Association is being run this year."
