It is important to note that the Kansas Wesleyans boys' basketball team, as a whole, gives back. Each week throughout this school year, three or more players from the team volunteer at Cottonwood Elementary School to help out in the class, read a book, or just to hang with the kids. The teachers believe that this has really helped motivate the students to do better in the classroom. Cottonwood enjoys the team so much that it made its on-site display with pictures and articles of the team. The school even keeps the score of every game on the display. Cottonwood also allowed some of the students to come to the Kansas Wesleyan game, This proves that they are some of the team's biggest fans.Josh Berry believes that this year was a really special year, and that none of it could have been possible without the fans. Berry states that "Cottonwood has really been a big supporter for us throughout the season, so we try to come over here and do as much as we can, whether it's reading a book or just taking pictures with the kids."Josh Berry, a senior guard from Tulsa, Oklahoma, played last year at Sterling before following Coach Tommy DeSalme to Kansas Wesleyan.
