Prior to Saturday, Waterman Qualified and recently competed in the indoor championship meet, held in Johnson City, Tenn., earlier this month. According to David Toelle on the KWU Sports Information director, "Waterman threw 12.69m (41' 7.75") to earn her 12th place finish."
"It kind of feels good to qualify for both indoor and outdoor nationals," says Waterman on her performances this season so far. "It's nice to qualify for the outdoor season in the beginning instead of putting it off to the end."
Waterman believes that the reason for her being where she is now is because of the encouragement that she receives from her teammates. Waterman also believes that the team as a whole will have a good season and hopes that she has set the bar for others on the team to follow in her steps and qualify for outdoor nationals in May.
The KWU track and field team is still at the beginning of their outdoor season with five meets remaining, including the ACCK meet on April 13, the Tabor invite the next week and one more trip to Southwestern College for the Southwestern Relays before the KCAC conference meet set for May 4-6.
