The Kansas Wesleyan University's Student Government Association held its Executive Council Elections last week for new officers to head the association.
The Student Government Association is an organization on campus that allows students to put their input in on situations and bills that have been brought up. Next year's Treasurer, Brie Morton, said, "The point of SGA is to make positive changes requested by the students that will better the atmosphere on campus."
Shannon Pantoja was elected the President; Dane Baxa was elected Vice President; Brie Morton was elected Treasurer; and Monica Weiser was elected SAB (Student Activities Board) Chair for the 2007-08 school year, beginning in the Fall. There were a total of one hundred and seventy ballots submitted by the students of Kansas Wesleyan so that they could put in their view on who should run the board.
Morton is excited for the upcoming year for the campus of KWU and the Student Government Association. "People who have signed up for SGA in the past don't always seem committed enough in the way of not always showing up for meetings," Morton commented. She feels that the people who have been elected will help increase the commitment and quality of the board. Morton added, "I would just like to see the campus thrive and be successful in all aspects of discussion and making it become a better place to attend school."
The SGA elections are complete, and next year's officers are ready to better the life of students on campus. The help of the student body is also needed, so, if you have time in your busy days, attend a meeting and share your views with the officers. Let the elected officials know what the students want to help make this campus more enjoyable for everyone.
