Jeffery Barker is a graduate of St. Joseph College located in Rensselaer, IN. He graduated with a double major of Social Work and Criminal Justice. While attending St. Joseph Barker ran both cross-country and track & field. Barker previously coached at an NAIA college in the Chicago area. While he was looking to get a fresh start, he found the KWU coaching position opening and pursued it. Barker believes KWU offers a good training area as well as the opportunity to give the students the attention they deserve. Notre Dame football is Barker's favorite sports team and one of his favorite quotes is, " An ounce of image is worth a pound of performance."
Mike Davert
Head Men's Basketball Coach
Mike Davert is alum of the former Marymount College that was located in Salina. Davert knows first hand about the community support Salina offers because he experienced it when he played basketball at Marymount. He previously coached basketball at Southeast of Saline High School. When the men's basketball coaching position opened at Kansas Wesleyan Davert was eager to follow his dreams of coaching at the college level. While he is familiar with the college traditions, he wants to motivate his players to give back to the community that supports them. Davert plans on making KWU home for many years to come. His favorite athlete are Magic Johnson and Larry Bird.
Jennifer King
Head Softball & Head Cheer and Dance
A proud graduate of Fort Hays University with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, Jennifer King was eager to take the Head Cheer and Dance position at KWU. While working on her MBA in sports administration, King is also a resident director in Wilson Hall. She keeps a busy schedule with the many faces she wears at KWU. The New York Yankees are King's favorite sports team. King looks forward to improving the softball team, cheer squad, and dance team. King's favorite quote is, "It's okay to sit on your pity pot, just make sure you flush when you're done."
Brent Mooney
Head Tennis
Brent Mooney has attended Independence Community College, Kansas Wesleyan University, and graduated from Bethany College with a degree in Physical Education. He was an assistant coach of the tennis team at Bethany prior to moving on to the head coaching position at KWU. Mooney has high hopes to give the tennis program at KWU a competitive advantage. The Kansas City Chiefs and The Kansas City Royals along with Nebraska are Mooney's favorite sports teams. "Expect the best, work the hardest, enjoy the moment", is one of Mooney's favorite quotes.
Ryan Showman
Head Golf and Assistant Women's Basketball
Ryan Showman graduated from Kansas Wesleyan University with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and is currently working on his masters at Emporia University. Prior to coming to KWU, Showman taught P.E. at a local elementary school. He jumped at the opportunity to coach golf at the college level. The opportunity also came with the assistant basketball job. Showman is looking forward to the experience of working with college athletes. When Showman is not busy coaching he cheers on his favorite teams of Maryland and Nebraska.
