The Student Government Association is back in action and ready to make improvements to the Kansas Wesleyan student's way of life.
A new school year brings new faces to SGA in the election of new representatives for class and residence halls. The President of SGA is Shannon Pantoja and Vice President is Dane Baxa. Other executive positions include Secretary Lauren Zey, Treasurer Brie Morton, and Student Activity Board President Ashley Davenport.
Newly elected class representatives are Daniele Leite, senior class, Madison Askins, junior class, Julie Foster, sophomore class, Andrew Kohls, Wesley Hall, Alexa Rogers, Wilson Hall, and Haley Brown, Pfeiffer Hall. There are also various representatives from student clubs and activities.
Pantoja is eager to work with her colleges to make big improvements for KWU students. "The biggest challenge for SGA this year is to make sure that the clubs continue to thrive. The diversity in the group helps promote opinions and ideas that are promising and will help conclude the best solution for any problem," Pantoja said.
SGA is a way for students to make changes to improve the quality of student life on campus. Currently, SGA is collaborating with Kansas State Salina to implement a "Safe Ride" system for KWU students. Safe Ride would allow students to call a phone number to get a ride whenever they are in need. The SGA is excited to get the ball rolling on Safe Ride. SGA also has a number of other committees forming for this school year.
The Student Activities Board is having a meeting on Tuesday, September 18th in the Student Center and invites anyone interested to come and join them. SAB helps coordinate, lead, and administer all activities offered by SGA.
