A piano teacher from Missouri played a concert on a restructured model of an old instrument at the University United Methodist Church last Sunday.

Dr. Janice Wenger, a faculty member in the University of Missouri at Columbia's music department, played compositions from several very famous composers of the Classical period including Joseph Haydn, W. Amadeus Mozart, and Ludwig van Beethoven.

The concert took place as the first installment of this year's season of the Family Concert Series at University United Methodist Church. The concert series is a cooperative effort between KWU and UUMC.
"I think she's very good, and I like the way she's describing the instrument," said Jean Clovis, a sponsor of the concert series for the last two years.

"We're learning how it functions and it's really great." The instrument is a pianoforte, an instrument whose keys are similar in size to the harpsichord.

The pedals are pressed by the knees instead
"The family concert series has been going on for about the last ten years or so," said Pastor Mike Rose. The demographics of the concert in terms of age were Rose wants Wesleyan students to know that "It's a free concert and very much worth their time."
