"The Seeker: The Dark is Rising"
Michael:
"You are the seeker." This film reaches its major conflict at the moment when the 'old ones' proclaim this revelation to teenage Will Stanton. He, like heroes in many movies, is reluctant to accept his responsibility.
Stanton, as described by the other timeless figures, the aforementioned 'old ones,' must find the six signs in time to save the human race from being destroyed by the evil force known as 'The Dark.' Stanton is a re-born old one, a servant of the 'The Light.'
Like many fantasy films, the storyline sometimes asks us to simply hear and accept what is happening, but despite this, the story moves along fairly well.
Stanton's finding of the 'signs' helps him to gain his powers, powers such as controlling fire and traveling through time. He discovers his own resiliency, and also finds out family secrets during his quest. If you are looking for a movie in which you can get engaged, I recommend this one, because "The Seeker" is definitely worth watching.

"Elizabeth: The Golden Age"
Jenna:
This movie ranks high on my must-see list for a few reasons. One, I am a history nerd and I like to see interesting tidbits of true tales on the big screen. Two, the costumes are completely breathtaking just in themselves. The amount of fabric those actresses wore must have been exhausting, but they were absolutely gorgeous! Three, the dialogue brought the characters to life. Elizabeth was portrayed not only as a queen, but also as a woman with hopes and fears.
Her character was played at a depth that a person rarely sees in modern movies. And, as if you needed one more reason to see this masterpiece, you can consider all the awe-inspiring scenery they used from filming in the English countryside.
The only drawback to this movie was that a viewer might have gotten lost in the complex plot if he or she was not somewhat familiar with Elizabeth's historical timeline. I definitely recommend seeing this movie while it is still in theaters so that you can get the full experience.
Grade: A
"The Heartbreak Kid"
Jenna:
This movie had a predictable meets girl and tries to hide problem, girl finds out and rejects the boy and finally girl changes her mind about boy. The only thing that makes this movie different is Ben Stiller's style of humor coupled with a few risqué scenes. I would suggest seeing this movie on a night out with the guys/girls. I predict a few of its lines will be quotable (although not necessarily appropriate enough to print.) Overall, this was a decent movie.
