After sweeping Bethany in three games at the Swedes' own gym on Tuesday night, the Coyotes fans rushed the court as the Women's Volleyball team had become the KCAC Conference Champions.
Until this final showdown, the Coyotes were even with the Swedes with a 12-1 record and needed to oust them in order to gain the first place seed. Hitter Sarah Claborn proved to be the difference-maker after she had 22 kills overall in the games.
Student Assistant Coach Joel Gunterman had this to say about the game, "We went ready to play, and we executed very well."
The team won in front of a very energetic crowd that overpowered the Bethany fans.
"It was great revenge to be able to own them at their place in front of a packed gym" said enthusiatic fan Emily Luckeroth.
Quality serves from the Coyotes and great digs would prove lethal to the Swedes as they won the three games 30-16, 30-22 and 30-21. "We had a goal and we met it" said Gunterman who was proud and mentioned his hopes for regionals. "We have a long way to go, but this game put us in a great position to get a high-seed and hopefully win in regionals."
The Lady Coyotes go on the road to meet the Southwestern Mound builders next Wednesday, and then come back for a home game at 2 p.m. against Bethel.
