will be celebrating Freedom week.
President of the organization, Jeriah
Forbes stated, "This week we are recognizing Freedom Week by celebrating the fall of communist Russia and becoming aware of its oppressive nature."
The organization plans on spreading
the rhetoric and awareness through visuals such as posters that will be placed on campus.
The organization is planning other activities for the year. Forbes stated, "The College Republicans are coordinating
many projects. For example, Feb. 9 we will be hosting the Saline County caucus."
The organization was started back in 2004 by former student Rodney Wren Sr., and although he has left the college, the club remains active. "Last year they hosted the state College Republican Convention," said member John Mikolajcik.
Mikolajcik went on to say part of the club's purpose is to, "Put a voice out there for political activism and give students a place to voice their opinion on campus."
Students seem to take advantage of the opportunity, as the club is in its third year on campus.
The last meeting, the members got a chance to see a thought provoking video followed by a discussion and a chance to voice their opinions on the video.
"It was a chance to see the other side of things," said member of the club, Nick Isely, "It seems like most views from colleges and the media are really liberal and one-sided."
