After winning the KCAC Season Championship, the KCAC Tournament Championship and the Region IV Championship, the KWU Lady Coyotes
are heading to Daytona Beach, Fla. for the National Tournament.

In the semi-finals of the Region IV Tournament, the 'Yotes faced a familiar
team in the MacPherson Bulldogs, and the result was in the favor of KWU once again.
The Coyotes won the game 1-0 on a spectacular finish by junior forward Kat Benton.

Benton bent the ball far post in the 69th minute to give her team the lead and the win.
In the Region IV final on Saturday, Nov. 3, KWU took on the No. 2 seed, Park University Pirates in a rematch of last year's region championship, in which the Lady Coyotes lost 3-1 in a heated match.

The game started off equal in that both teams had chances to score, but in the 20th minute Kat Benton received a through ball from Janna Macy, and struck the ball far post on a breakawayto put the 'Yotes up 1-0.
The Coyotes took the lead and the momentum into half-time.

In the second half at the 54th minute,
Heather Muilenburg was assisted by Eliana Parada to add to the Coyotes' lead.
After this second goal was fired, the Pirates seemed down and out and appeared to have given up.

Again in the 59th minute, Muilenburg struck again to blow the match wide open.
She was assisted by Janna Macy and put the ball past the Park goalkeeper.

The score ended at 3-0.
The Coyotes pounded 16 total shots with 11 of them on target and three of them finding the back of the net.

KWU Goalkeeper Kelli Beatty went the distance, recording five important
saves for her second shut-out in the last three post season matches.

"I knew our team was good enough to beat Park, but the team was focused on the bigger picture which was making it to nationals for the first time in school history," said Beatty.

Kansas Wesleyan University advances
to the NAIA Women's Soccer National Championships in Daytona Beach, Florida, beginning on Nov. 14.

The Coyotes are heading into the tournament with a total record of 20 wins, 1 loss and 1 tie, and look to continue their dominance on the national platform.

Information regarding seedings and match-ups for the tournament will be released from the NAIA later this week.
