The choir will split into a men's and women's choir and perform "There is no Rose" and "Go where I send Thee."

The KWU philharmonic choir will be celebrating their annual Christmas by Candlelight tradition Dec. 9th in Sam's chapel of Pioneer Hall. The times for the performances are 3:30 and 7:30 p.m.

Since the annual vocal performance has been so crowded in past years, there will be two performances for the second year in a row.
There are two choirs on the Kansas
Wesleyan campus.

The Chorale, which is a select ensemble
with fewer students, will hold their holiday performance within the first week of Christmas Break with the Salina Symphony.

The second is the philharmonic choir, which consists of approximately 70 students, and will be performing with two other high school choirs for the Christmas by Candlelight performance.

The Choir will begin their performance
as they do every year, commencing
in with candles dressed in their trademark royal purple robes. The choirs will be doing a collective performance with a symphony on a rendition of "Hallelujah" in addition to their other songs.

"Choir is like one big happy famfamily,"
said member Shawna Robbins. "I've been doing choir since grade school and continued doing it all through college. I love singing." Many other members such as Robbins join for those reasons. Fellow senior Steve Sommerville stated, "I like to do choir because I like to make people happy." Both Sommerville and Robbins have participated since their freshman year, but this year they will be performing for the first time without classmate and choir member Kandy White who was said to shine light upon many people's lives.

The choir also performed at her memorial service on campus Mon. Dec. 3. Many of the members sang a teary-eyed "Amazing Grace" in her memory, and a few other selections to celebrate her life.

The choir are regular performers for the on campus services of "The Calling," but they only hold one large performance a semester. The next large performance is in California next semester.

The Christmas by Candlelight show is free of charge, but you must have a ticket to be admitted. "Tickets go fast," remarked one choir member. It's recommended to get your ticket as soon as possible for the show.
