Francis Bacon says that the job of the artist is to always deepen the mystery.
Paul Cézanne said that a work of art which did not begin in emotion is not art.

Jerry Buhari does not have that problem. His paintings are from the heart and therefore filled with a lot of emotion.

Student Destinee Powers says, "Jerry's work is unique and individual. It makes me think about life in a whole different way."

Buhari recently visited and gave a lecture on his work and presented the emotions, ideas and other purposes to a small audience. For the first time in a lot of people's lives, they were able to see the Kansas landscape through an outsider's viewpoint. Students, professors and guests attended this special gathering.

When Buhari stood to speak, it was the first time some students saw the faculty at KWU look like one of them. Buhari talked about his time here in Kansas, and what inspired him. His paintings are inspired by life.

"Life is an open canvas that invites me for interaction." Buhari said. He also talked about how his paintings resemble his experience in Kansas, and how it has taught him mentally, physically and spiritually.
Dr. John Blackwell was among some of the faculty present. "Jerry is a witness to the transfigured world. He sees the embodiment of the spiritual world in the material world and displays it." Buhari says that every painting has a meaning behind it.

Shakespeare once said, "Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind; and therefore is winged Cupid painted blind." This maybe the case when you look at Jerry Buhari's work, but what you see with your eyes is not what your mind grasps.
