"Our half court defense needs some touching up, mainly on the rebounding side. We are a very small but quick team, and I believe if we can rebound the ball better we can get out and run like we want to," said sophomore guard Romero Hood about having a more successful conference run.
On Nov. 29 the Coyotes traveled to Ottawa in search of a win in their first conference game.
They entered the locker room at half time with a one point lead over the Braves (6-3).
The lead continued to switch hands throughout the second half, but hope of a win faded when the Braves took a 10-point lead with only minutes left.
However, the Coyotes would not give up as they made much-needed shots and were within three points with seven seconds left. Trey Sims would square up at the top of the arch for the game-tying three pointer only to be left disappointed when his shot did not fall. The final score was 75-72.
The men were ready to step up and grab a win against rival Bethany on Dec. 1st in Hahn Gymnasium.
The Coyotes started regulation with a two-point lead thanks to Sims's technical foul free-throws because the Swedes were dunking during game warm-ups.
The game was as exciting as expected for the rival schools with the score staying close until the 4:35 mark where Sims's three-pointer ignited a 14-2 Coyote run to end the half.
The Coyotes came out of the locker room ready to finish what they started.
The Coyotes pushed their lead to 18 with a dunk from Willie McCarty assisted by Tony Boone.
The Swedes were able to come within six but their 10-0 run was shut down with back to back threes from DaRon Stafford and Boone.
Sims' was the high scorer with 17, followed by Hood with 15 and Henderson with 12.
