The softball team is looking forward to next season with confidence.
Ten players will be returning, and eight new players have signed.
Last fall, the softball team finished in a three-way tie for first place. The team is picked to finish in third place in the upcoming season by the KCAC Coaches poll.
Most of the 13 players on the roster are from Kansas, with two others from Canada and one from California.
"If we can play like we did last fall, we have a good shot at winning KCAC," said coach Jenny King.
Some players have superstitious beliefs. "On the night before games I sleep in my jersey," said Chanelle Thompson along with all the players saying that they never step on the infield chalk because it is bad luck.
The softball team works very hard with weights Monday, Wednesday and Friday along with skills practice five days a week.
The women work on strength agility
and quickness and fundamentals of batting, fielding and throwing.
