Think on these things...
We should place confidence should be in God alone

"I have confidence in confidence alone…besides which you see, I have confidence in me." (Sound of Music).
In the musical, "The Sound of Music," Maria sang these words as she ran up to the door of Captain Von Trapp's mansion.
As uplifting as these words are, she later found out that it is not enough to have confidence in oneself, nor in another human being.
We often put confidence in othersthat the driver of a blue Honda will not run a red light; that the professor will move the test back; that we will not procrastinate this semester. And yet, often times, these confidences fail.
Eventually, people will always show themselves to be human. When this happens, it will be revealed to us who our confidence is in. It is so easy for us to lash out at someone who has failed us. It is so easy to berate ourselves for failing. If we get angry, then probably our confidence was in someone human.
If we remind ourselves that God will work it out, then we have put our confidence in the right place. We can be confident in Jesus Christ.
The Lord God loves us, and wants what is best for us. Jeremiah 29:11 says, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil; to give you an expected end." An expected end! God knows what will happen, He understands where we come from. When our lives get disrupted, God does NOT say, "Wait a minute, Lesa was in a car accident?
That is not in the script, let me see
act II!" That is obsurd to believe that
God is unaware of our circumstances.
A friend of ours, Lesa Henerson was in a car accident in June of 2007, she was thrown from an SUV, and pinned underneath of it, as it dragged her down the rock road. She was
unconcious, but her confidence was in
the Lord. All her family and friends put their confidence for her life in the Lord. The doctors said that IF she woke up, it would be just in time for Christmas.
However, her expected end was already in the making. She recovered long before the doctors expected; instead of waking up in 6 months, she woke up in 3 weeks, continued to heal miraculously, and was back to her normal routine in just a couple of months: she doesn't even remember the accident. That is the kind of power that lies in putting our confidence in Christ alone.
Proverbs 25:19 says, "Confidencein an unfaithful man in time of trouble is like a broken tooth, and a foot out of joint."
Ouch! Let's make sure our confidence is in the one who never fails; Jesus Christ!
