The storyline is about Joseph and his coat of many colors from the Old Testament.
If the story does not sound familiar, here is a short overview of what you may see during the musical: Jacob (Joseph's Father) gives the coat to Joseph, making his brothers jealous.
The brothers then take Joseph, throw him in the pit and sell him as a slave to a group of Ishmaelites headed to Egypt. Through a series of fortunate events, Joseph then becomes the Pharaoh's second in command.
The brothers then travel to Egypt to seek food to help them through a famine, but they do not recognize Joseph. He decides to test them to see if their character has improved since they sold him.
The musical opened Thursday and will be presented tonight and Saturday night at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and also Sunday at 2 p.m.
Admission is free for Kansas Wesleyan students, faculty, and administration. Tickets are $8 for any others in the community.
Director Richard Esvang discovered many challenges when putting this musical together.
"The biggest challenge was being able to successfully tell the story with the proper techniques, props and cast," replied Esvang. The 20- person cast is always on stage and is to always be moving. Esvang said, "The story has to be told visually to fully understand, and it is difficult to tell the story and keep everyone moving."
