Prof. Barbara Marshall gives the credit for the idea to Professor Jack Morris who is in charge of student recruitment for the communications department.
He originally came up with the idea as a way for high school students to become interested in the communications
program at Kansas Wesleyan University. But, once the idea got around, all of the professors thought it would be a great idea to show off the work that takes place throughout the building.
Marshall stated, "This will be a great opportunity for our students to show off their work." She also feels that it is a great way to show how diverse and broad our department is. Instructor Paul Green says, "I'm looking forward to it; we have a lot of interesting things going on in the department."
He also added, "It's a time for groups or activities that don't get that much lime-light as other activities
do, to shine."
Both professors think that the open house will be a huge hit. They also agree that it's time for the departments
to show that they have their own identity on campus.
Brad Anderson, Chair of the Fine Arts Division, says, "It will be great for the high school students in the region who come; they will see a vibrant
and enthused student body that will get them excited about what they can do here at Kansas Wesleyan."
The activities will start at 3 p.m. with tours of the facilities. At 4 p.m. there will be demonstrations and publications. And to round out the evening, a play and speech will begin at 5 p.m.
Two departments are involved: the Art Dept. and the Communication Studies & Theatre Arts Dept.
