Next year's leadership named
Michael Tate
Issue date: 4/18/08 Section: Opinion
As acting Editor in Chief of the one-hundredth volume of the Advance, it is my privilege to announce the name of the woman
who will be leading the dedicated staff of next year's paper.
Kat Benton, known in large part as a member of the KCAC champion Lady Coyote soccer team, is being promoted from her current position as copy chief. Other members of the leadership core of next year's staff are
Adriene Similton, who will return as assistant editor, Molly Suter, web editor, and Emily Luckeroth, video editor.
Many avid Coyote fans know Benton, a California native, as one of the Lady Coyotes' most prolific scoring threats. Next year, she will lead the Advance staff in producing a quality publication. Similton, a transfer student this year from Hutchinson Community College in Hutchinson, KS, is an
active member of the Forensics team. She has won numerous awards in the activity.
Both Benton and Similton have numerous years of experience in publication. Many of the positive results from this year's paper were
born of their dedication to the production process. They have been a tremendous support system for me.
Suter, also from Hutchinson, moves up from her position as this year's opinion editor. She, too, is a successful member of the Forensics program. Luckeroth, from California,is a member of the Lady Coyote
basketball team. She held the position of video editor this semester.
I have enjoyed a successful year of leading a terrific staff to cover KWU. I believe that, under Benton's leadership next year, the Advance, your voice and the voice of all those associated with KWU, will continue
to grow in effectiveness and will truly be an entity of which all students, staff and faculty can be proud.
Leading this staff has been a wonderful experience for me. I offer my gratitude to my professors, especially Dr. Morris, Mr. Green, and Mrs. Marshall, my friends and
especially to everyone who read the paper this year. Seeing those stands empty is the best compliment that I could have received. Thank you.
