Think on these Things... God's opinion matters, too
Carrie Long
Issue date: 5/2/08 Section: Opinion
What's your opinion? What do you think? Can't you ever think for yourself? Why don't you try to be a little more open minded? Why can't you just relax a little?
EPIPHANY WARNING: WHAT WE THINK AND HOW WE FEEL IS NOT WHAT MAKES THE DIFFERENCE!!!
Its how we respond to what GOD thinks and feels that makes the difference.
As humans, our thinking is naturally sinful; the only hope we have is to let God think for us.
Recently someone said, "I want you to think for yourself." What would happen if we all just thought for ourselves?
There would be a serious increase in unlicensed driving, in driving drunk, disregarding the law in general, no societal constraints and not before long, total chaos.
We need to get away from the opinion that we should all "think for ourselves." This opinion is faulty for two reasons. A. We are all sinners, and it's so easy for us to have
wrong thinking. And B. In the end,
our opinion does not matter; God's
opinion does.
Some day, hopefully very soon, Jesus will come back and rapture those who have chosen to follow Him.
When we stand before God, and He asks us why we should come into heaven, we can only "gain access to the party" so to speak, if our opinion matches God's.
It does not matter how good we are, because God is perfect; our goodness will never measure up. It does not matter if we have a different opinion than God, heaven belongs to Him, not to us.
Romans 3:4 God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, that thou might be justified in thy sayings, and might overcome when thou art judged.
I John 2:4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
